I am a collage and mixed media artist, living and working in San Francisco.  I am inspired by the passage of time on grungy walls, billboard ads, graffiti, text, vintage typography and images.  Graffiti and billboards are temporary and can really only be witnessed in the moment.  Blink and a new layer has covered up the previous one.  Vintage books and magazines force the viewer to compare the past to the present; their messages are delivered loud and clear.
       
       I layer up paint, paper, and text over and over to get an aged and weathered feeling. As every layer is added, a story evolves on the surface of the piece.  I then choose images and text from magazines and books that continue that story. 
My work is a balance between decisions I make and decisions that are made for me by how the layers evolve.
